Lan Mah
Concept film poster for the 2024 Thai Film "How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies," also known as Lan Mah directed by Pat Boonnitipat. The film follows M, a university dropout who begins caring for his terminally ill grandmother, Amah initially motivated by the hope of inheriting her fortune. As they spend time together, their relationship deepens, becoming a heartfelt story about family, love, sacrifice, and the value of time.
I was inspired by the symbolic meaning of the pomegranate tree that Amah planted when M was born and dearly cherishes. The pomegranate tree symbolizes a traditional Chinese cultural belief, that planting it in front of the house is believed to help descendants grow into healthy, prosperous, and successful adults. As the film progresses, we learn about Amah’s dedication to her family and her deep and nurturing love.
